Mission
Ms. Sherri's mission is to provide high quality, skilled, compassionate instruction to support struggling readers as they rise up to meet their potential. The goal for all of her students is for them to become confident and skilled readers, writers, and spellers.
Orton Gillingham
Orton Gillingham (OG) is a multisensory print-to-speech approach to teaching reading. It is rooted in the Science of Reading. OG teaches to mastery before moving on to the next concept, and is a rule-based reading approach.
EBLI
EBLI (Evidence Based Literacy Instruction) is a speech-to-print (also known as Structured Linguistic Literacy) approach to teaching reading. It is also rooted in the Science of Reading. EBLI does not require teaching to mastery to move on to the next lesson, teaches patterns, and is not a rule-heavy approach. This can be a good fit for learners who struggle with working memory or ADHD, due to the low cognitive load.
